Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all of our friends and family. I hope 2013 is filled with much love, joy, and prosperity for all of you.

I have to tell you that I’m very proud of myself. I have not had a drink in over 35 years, but last night I went out to a party and got a little tipsy. No, I’m not proud of that, I’m proud of the fact that I left my Explorer parked and took a cab home. I didn’t even know I could drive a cab! Now if I could just figure out what to do with it!

Speaking of cars and such, gasoline here in the Orlando area has gone from $3.12 a gallon to $3.31 in less than two weeks. And we haven’t had a tornado or other crisis to blame it on. I guess the oil companies have decided not to even try to make an excuse for their greed any more.

It has been several years since we’ve gone to a movie, but we went to see Lincoln the other day, and it is a great movie. As the credits were rolling and the lights came on, Terry and I looked at each other and both said, "Wow!" It is well written, well cast, and it was interesting to see that all of the Congressional back stabbing, partisanship, and self-serving BS we see so much of today was going on way back then. If you’re even thinking about seeing this movie, go do it. Trust me, you’ll be moved.

The other day I got my year end report from WordPress, which is actually compiled in early December. It shows that in 2012 my RV blog was viewed about 670,000 times, with visitors coming from 148 countries. While most visitors came from the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom were not far behind. I also had 1,269 visitors from Australia, 169 from Russia, 436 from India, and 5 from Mongolia, of all places. Other countries listed were Tanzania (2), Saudi Arabia (42), Brazil (228), and 11 from Nigeria. I’m pretty sure those folks from Nigeria are pretty well to do, because they always want to send me millions of dollars. Nice folks, those Nigerians. I appreciate everybody’s support.

For those of you planning your travels for the year, I just learned that the Good Sam rally scheduled for Albuquerque, New Mexico has been cancelled. There was no reason given for the change in plans.

This is our last day at the Orlando Thousand Trails, and we’ll be headed back to Three Flags in Wildwood tomorrow. But we’ll return here in late January for another three week stay. From there, who knows where we’ll go? I sure don’t!

  1. Great Thought For The Day to start off the new year. Happy 2013!

  2. Happy New Year to you and Terry. Just want you to know that we are close to completing our 3 yr. of fulltiming and you was one of the major contributors to us doing this great life. I watch your blog daily, of course I subscribe to the Gypsy Journal and they gave us that push we needed when we needed it. Thank you very much Nick for all your help for this wonderful lifestyle.

    Thanks
    Dave & Linda

  3. Happy New Year to you both! And enjoy wherever your travels may take you.

If you’re looking for a laid-back, out-of-the-way and reasonably-priced for Florida place to stay, check out Sabal Palms RV Park in Palmdale, FL. The only businesses in town are the post office, a palm tree nursery, and the campground, and the post office may go away. We’ll be there for two months starting the end of January, our 6th return visit. It’s not for everyone but we sure do enjoy the peace and quiet there, and we’re close enough to big cities for day trips.

  4. Happy New Year to you and Miss Terry. Such a problem -you don’t know where to go next! That is the great joy of fulltime RVing. If you don’t like where you are for whatever reason, you can pick up and move somewhere else. How many working people would like to have that chance… Will be thinking of you both and enjoying your travels through your blog and the Gypsy Journal during the coming year!
