Yesterday Miss Terry and I went back to school. Computer school, that is. And we actually learned quite a bit!
Part of the deal when we bought our new iMac computers, was the One To One program, which allows us to get personalized, hands on training at the Apple store, and and yesterday we had two hour-long sessions back to back. By the time they were over, we had learned a lot about the iMacs and the differences between them and the Windows-based PCs we have used up until now.
Actually, all computers basically do the same job, but on a Mac-based system the commands and procedures to accomplish the job are different. We knew that there would be a learning curve, and were prepared for it, but so far, the transition really hasn’t been all that difficult. We now have the two iMacs networked together, so we can open files on each other’s computers, as well as our two PCs. Yes, it’s true, we are becoming part of the “cult.” 🙂
We are not sure what caused the problem, or what happened, but for whatever reason, for the last few days some readers could not access this blog. It seems to have been a problem with the Google Reader feeds, for the most part, though some folks who use Firefox also reported having problems. But by yesterday afternoon, most people who had reported having issues said they were finally able to get to the blog. Thanks to Greg White, and Chris Guld from Geeks on Tour, who spent a lot of time trying to figure out what the problem was.
Greg and Jan White, and Tom and Barbara Westerfield are here at Elkhart Campground, and Mike and Elaine Loscher are staying in South Bend while Michele Henry from Phoenix Commercial Paint finishes painting their Winnebago motorhome. Those three couples are the backbone of our rallies, and they are responsible for a lot of the success we have had with our gatherings. Since Barb and Tom are leaving for California on Monday, we decided that yesterday afternoon would be a good time for everybody to get together for dinner.
We decided on Ryan’s Buffet, which has enough choices to make everybody happy. The food was hot, fresh and tasty, and the conversation was fun. We sat around for an hour or so after we finished eating, just having a good time and enjoying the company of dear friends. We had friends back in our old lives before we hit the road, but we have found that RVing friendships are totally different. We may only cross paths once or twice a year, but the conversations and fun just seem to pick up right where we left off the last time we were together. We have a huge, loving, extended family out here, and we are happy to be a part of it all.
Today is a sober day for our nation, the anniversary of the 9-11 terrorist attacks, and I hope each of you will take a few minutes to remember that black day in our history, and to remember the lives that we lost. God bless America.

I could not access either this morning and then I received and auto update from apple message and after that update I tried again and went right through like usual. Appears that this Apple update is needed prior to access.
You are certainly right about RV friendships. We’ve been on the road just over a year and have made friends who feel much closer than just acquaintances. We’ve met Barb and Tom Westerfield just twice, but feel like we’ve known them forever! And even though we only attended a Gypsy Journal rally once, in Yuma, we feel as if we know you and Terri from reading your blog for the last several years. Relationships are just different in the RV world, since we all have something in common from the beginning.
